The industry has historically relied on distinct Standards, Templates, and Workflows (STWs), tailored to individual companies, which while an improvement over past practices, still operate in silos. This fragmentation reflects the complex nature of the building process, where innovation often happens incrementally and in isolated areas. Moreover, each project’s context—such as design goals, environmental conditions, client needs, and resource availability—necessitates flexibility in methods and tools. A standardized approach would likely stifle innovation, fail to address specific project needs, and overlook the human elements of collaboration and creativity that drive meaningful progress in the building industry. Instead, a balance between shared vision and customization is essential.
